Assignments provide an opportunity for participants to engage with the content and demonstrate their learning through the submission of evidence (links/uploads).

Add assignment

  1. Within a module click the “Add” button.

  2. A menu will appear, click “Assignment”

3. A pop-up window will open that allows you to name the assignment and add instructions.

Note: If you start to add an assignment, then decide you no longer want it, you will need to remove it from the list.

Edit assignment

  1. Expand the module that the assignment is in

  2. Hover over the section that contains the assignment name. Click to open the edit view.

  3. Make desired changes and select “Save”

Delete assignment

  1. Find the assignment you would like to delete

  2. Click the “Delete” button (trash can)

  3. A warning will appear to verify you want to delete the assignment

  4. Select “Yes, delete assignment”

*For now, if a participant has completed the assignment, it will not be able to be deleted. This functionality will come at a later time. In the meantime, you could edit the assignment and turn it into a simple reflection question assignment or recreate the module it’s in and hide the old module.

Reordering assignments

  1. Find the assignment you would like to reorder.

  2. Click and hold the 6 dots on the left hand side of the assignment.

  3. Drag it and release your click when you are happy with its placement.

Approval process types

When creating/editing an assignment you can mark which approval process is appropriate for that assignment.

Automatic approval

This setting automatically approves assignments as they are submitted. You are still able to review the submissions and modify the status of the assignment if needed. You may want to choose this option for participation-related assignments or assignments where less oversight is needed.

Manual approval

This setting requires a review from someone with Manage Attendance permissions (typically facilitators or creators) for each submission. The participant will not receive credit for the course if an assignment is not approved (when you have the course set to automatically grant credit).

Reviewing submitted assignments

  1. Navigate to the Progress tab within the course.

  2. Select the Assignments section on the side.

  3. During review, two main actions are available:

    1. Approve: The submission meets requirements

    2. Return: The submission does not meet your requirements or an incorrect artifact was submitted. This action will notify the participant and allow them to edit their submission and resubmit the assignment.
