Requiring PD Feedback

Require participants to submit feedback before receiving credit for attending a learning opportunity.

Updated over a week ago

Overview

When you enable required feedback on an event:

  • Participants must submit feedback in addition to entering their attendance code to be considered “confirmed”

  • Participants cannot download their certificate until feedback is submitted

  • Status badges help everyone track where they are in the confirmation process

For Participants

Confirming Your Attendance When Feedback is Required

  1. Navigate to your learning opportunity and click Confirm Attendance

  2. Enter the attendance code provided by your facilitator

  3. Click Next

  4. You’ll see a feedback form that says Feedback is required at the top

  5. Complete and submit the feedback form

  6. Your attendance is now fully confirmed

What Happens If You Don’t Submit Feedback Right Away

If you close the feedback form without submitting:

  1. Your status shows as “Awaiting feedback”

  2. You cannot download your certificate yet

  3. To complete your confirmation:

    • Go to Learning > Your Log

    • Find the event in your list

    • Click the “Give feedback” button

    • Complete and submit the feedback form

Checking Your Confirmation Status

You can view your confirmation status in several places:

  • Learning > Your Log - Shows all your learning opportunities with status

  • Homepage - Recent events show your confirmation status

  • Event page - Your attendance status appears on the event details

Status meanings:

  • Awaiting feedback - You entered the code but still need to submit feedback

  • Awaiting confirmation - You submitted feedback; waiting for facilitator confirmation

  • Confirmed - You’re all set! Certificate available for download

For Facilitators and Administrators

How to Require Feedback on an Event

  1. Go to Learning > Manage > Opportunities

  2. Click Create Event or click an existing event to edit it

  3. Scroll down to the Feedback section

  4. Check “Collect feedback” if not already enabled

  5. Select an internal feedback form from the dropdown menu

  6. Check “Require feedback to receive credit”

  7. Click Save or Publish

Note: The “Require feedback” option only appears when you select an internal KickUp feedback form. External feedback form URLs cannot be tracked, so this option is not available for them.

Understanding the Attendance Statuses

When required feedback is enabled, you’ll see status badges in your attendance tables:

Status

What It Means

Confirmed

Participant entered attendance code AND submitted feedback

Awaiting feedback

Participant entered attendance code but has not submitted feedback yet

Awaiting confirmation

Participant submitted feedback but attendance has not been confirmed yet

Registered

Participant is registered but has not confirmed attendance

Enabling Required Feedback on an Existing Event

If you enable required feedback on an event that already has confirmed participants:

  1. When you check “Require feedback to receive credit,” a warning message appears

  2. The message tells you how many participants are already confirmed

  3. If you save, those participants’ status will change to “Awaiting feedback” until they submit their feedback

Setting District Defaults

Your Customer Success Manager can configure default settings for your district:

  • Default “Collect feedback” to checked - All new events will have feedback collection enabled by default

  • Default “Require feedback” to checked - All new events will require feedback by default

These defaults can be changed on individual events. This is especially helpful for districts with state compliance requirements where most events need required feedback.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I still receive credit if I don’t submit feedback?
A: No. When feedback is required on a particular learning opportunity, you must submit feedback to be considered confirmed and receive credit for attending.

Q: What if I started the feedback form but didn’t finish?
A: Your responses are saved as a draft. Return to Learning > Your Log, click “Give feedback,” and you can continue where you left off.

Q: I submitted feedback but my status still shows “Awaiting confirmation.” Why?
A: This means your feedback was received, but the facilitator hasn’t confirmed your attendance yet (for example, if they’re using a sign-in sheet for verification). Once they confirm, your status will update to “Confirmed.”

Q: Can a facilitator override the feedback requirement?
A: Facilitators can manually confirm attendance, but the participant’s status will still show “Awaiting feedback” until they submit feedback.

Q: Does this affect events I’ve already confirmed?
A: Only if the facilitator enables required feedback after you confirmed. In that case, your status would change to “Awaiting feedback” until you submit.
