Due Dates Overview

Due dates can be added to self-paced courses in KickUp to help staff stay on track with professional learning or compliance requirements.

There are two types of due dates:

  • Specific Due Date: This sets a single, fixed deadline (e.g., October 1, 2025) that applies to all registrants.

  • Relative Due Date: This calculates the due date based on when each staff member first registers for the course (e.g., 10 days after registration).

KickUp automatically tracks the first time a user registers for a course and uses that date to calculate relative due dates — even if the user unregisters and re-registers later.

How to Add or Change Due Dates

  1. Create or edit a self-paced course in KickUp.

  2. Scroll to the Time & Location section of the course setup form.

  3. Click + Due Date to add a due date to the course.

  4. Choose either:

    • Specific due date and select a calendar date.

    • Number of days after registration and enter a number of days.

  5. Save the course to apply the due date.

Due dates can be added or changed at any time—even after a course has been

published or registrations have already occurred.

Where Due Dates Are Shown

When a due date is added to a self-paced course, it becomes visible to staff members in multiple areas of the KickUp platform:

  • Learning Opportunity cards (within Browse view, Collections and Series)

  • Opportunity Details pages

  • KickUp Homepage (in the Recent self-paced courses section)

  • Your Log (Due date column)

Due dates will soon also be shown on:

  • Profile Pages (Learning tab)

  • Opportunities Table (optional column)

  • Records Table (optional column and filter)

Email Notifications

Staff who have registered but not confirmed attendance for a course will receive two email notifications before the due date and two reminders after the due date has passed.

  • Upcoming reminders: 1 week before and 1 day before due date

  • Overdue reminders: 1 day after and 1 week after due date has passed

Once registrants have confirmed their attendance, they will no longer receive these notifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do due dates prevent users from registering or confirming after the deadline?
No. Staff can still register for or confirm a course after the due date has passed. Due dates are designed to increase visibility and prompt timely action — not to block access. If you would like to restrict registration or confirmation after a deadline, please use registration windows or disable self-confirmation.

What happens if a user unregisters and then re-registers?
KickUp uses the first registration date to calculate each staff member's due date when a course has relative due date (i.e., 10 days after registration). This prevents staff from extending deadlines by unregistering and re-registering.

Can due dates be removed?
Yes. Remove a due date at any time by editing the course, clicking the x next to the due date, and saving the course.
